From January 2018, Air as a Service., Ltd. ('Aaas'), a company established by Mitsui & Co., Ltd. ('Mitsui & Co.') and DAIKIN AIRTECHNOLOGY AND ENGINEERING CO., LTD. ('Daikin Air Techno'), a wholly owned subsidiary of Daikin Industries, Ltd ('Daikin Industries'), began full-scale services.

AaaS owns and installs air-conditioning equipment in buildings and commercial facilities on behalf of their owners. It also offers a monthly subscription service*2 to manage a building's air-conditioning operations according to its scale and actual air-conditioning usage in order to provide users with comfortable, air-conditioned spaces.

Typically, air-conditioning equipment in buildings, commercial facilities, etc., are bought in bulk and owned by the building owner, who bears responsibility for the labor and expenses related to equipment renewal, maintenance, and routine inspections. However, the maintenance management and replacement of air-conditioning equipment requires a lot of money and effort, and equipment is often used far beyond its service life and is not properly maintained. For these reasons, tenants shoulder the burden of increased energy costs and the deterioration of air-conditioning.

In addition to ownership of air-conditioning equipment on behalf of facility owners, AaaS offers maintenance services utilizing IoT systems (which can monitor and control operational statuses remotely), and Daikin Air Techno's expertise on the use of operational data of air-conditioning equipment, to provide the optimum operations management at facilities. This makes it possible to provide tenants with energy-efficient, comfortable, air-conditioned spaces while reducing the costs and labor required by owners when installing, renewing, operating equipment. Furthermore, AaaS provides comprehensive support for the long-term operation of buildings and commercial facilities through air-conditioning equipment renovation according to usage, and through legal inspections based on laws for the suppression of Fluorocarbon emissions mandated by the facility manager.
