Mondi Containerboard seminar provides a platform for exchanging opinions, knowledge and ideas

This year's "From fibre to corrugated board" seminar, which took place in Torun, Poland, had a special focus on the future of corrugated board and packaging production. Almost 300 participants from 35 countries around the world joined the 3-day event, which was hosted by Mondi Świecie S.A. An evening charity event with a very special art auction also raised funds for a local social project.

Following its guiding principle "In touch every day", Mondi Containerboard not only offers customised paper products for everyday use, but also maintains close contact with its clients. Thus, the seminar was designed as a tool for enhancing mutual understanding between the company and its customers. The varied programme was led by 18 experienced speakers with subjects including the corrugated board production process, printing techniques and quality control systems for corrugators.

As part of the charity auction, a painting and a paper elephant, both designed by the Polish artist Marek Tomasik, were sold to the highest bidders: Aquila Poland a corrugated board producer and Convert Paper Sp. z o.o. a corrugated board producer as well as a distributor of cardboard. The auction proceeds of 3,100 Euros have been donated to a local initiative focusing on young people with behavioural problems.

Marek Motylewski, organiser of the seminar and Head of Technical Customer Service at Mondi Świecie S.A., says: "Getting people together and sharing knowledge as well as experiences from two areas such as papermaking and corrugating is always fascinating. Our seminar inspired participants and organisers alike to handle future challenges successfully."

Maciej Kunda, COO Mondi Containerboard and Managing Director at Mondi Świecie S.A., adds: "Our seminar is the most important customer event for the Świecie mill. We are very happy that clients from all over the world took part. The growing number of participants who join us each year shows that the Mondi Containerboard seminar is becoming more and more popular."

Mondi's customers were also highly delighted with the seminar, with representatives of Carmel Containers Ltd., for instance, commenting: "We were really impressed by this enjoyable, enriching and open-minded event. Everything was perfectly organised - from the visit to the Świecie mill to the charity event - and we look forward to participating in the next seminar session."
