In 2016, IDGC of Centre - Belgorodenergo division exceeded the energy conservation and energy efficiency program. As a result of technical and organizational measures it could save 4.2 million kWh of electricity.

The maximum effect - over 3 million kWh - was received through the implementation of measures to reduce technical losses. This is using wires with a larger cross-section, alignment of phase loads in 0.4 kV distribution networks, switching off of unloaded transformers and transformers with seasonal load, complex modernization of substations, switching to the planned use of energy efficient transformers of 6(10)/0.4 kV and others.

In particular, the effect of the use of energy-efficient transformers exceeded 685 thousand KWh, or in monetary terms 1 million 370 thousand rubles. Belgorod power engineers use the whole range of domestic power units with reduced power consumption. Of 290 units installed at the facilities last year, 269 (92%) of the total capacity of 113 MVA are classified as energy-efficient. Given that in the process of transformation of voltage almost a fifth of the total electricity transmission losses is made, increasing an energy efficiency class is a sure way to save.

The most important priority in the field of energy conservation and energy efficiency improvement for 2017 remains consistent reduction of losses and saving energy resources for industrial and economic needs. The combined effect of implementing the energy saving program for 2017, taking into account the carryover effect of the technical activities carried out last year, and reconstruction of the substation 'Malinovka', is expected to reach 7 million kWh.
