The Cooperation Agreement, signed by IDGC of Centre - Tverenergo division and the Office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the region, determines the main directions of cooperation between the power company and the police in ensuring safety of electricity supply facilities in the region.

The signed Agreement involves collaboration in identifying, preventing and combating theft of items of electrical equipment and bringing into disrepair critical infrastructure, as well as physical protection of the most important sites in the event of the threat of terrorist acts. The document specifies such an important aspect of the joint activity as the rapid exchange of information on incidents and emergencies. Conclusion of the Agreement was carried out with the active support of the Government of the Tver region.

It is expected that within the tasks set employees and law enforcement officers will conduct joint raids to detect cases of unauthorized connection to the power grid, illegal construction in protected zones of power lines, fiber-optic suspensions on power line poles of the branch, non-contractual and non-metered electricity consumption.

Power grid facilities are life supporting sites, their safe operation is the key to sustainable socio-economic development of the Tver region. Theft of power equipment can destroy power lines and disrupt electricity supply of hundreds of settlements. Theft of resources - non-contractual and non-metered electricity consumption - causes multimillion damage. Only for 5 months of 2016 64 cases of non-contractual electricity consumption and 525 cases of interference in the work of electric meters were identified. The total damage, caused to the company, amounted to more than 17.5 million rubles.

'Signing the agreement with the Office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Tver region makes it possible to significantly strengthen efforts to ensure security and safety of electric grid facilities in the region,' stressed Acting Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre - Tverenergo division director Alexander Chumachenko. 'Together with the police we will defend the rights of conscientious consumers, who under the law consume and pay for electric energy and have every right to receive quality service for the power supply.'
