Specialists of IDGC of Centre - Voronezhenergo division on the eve of school holidays are implementing a set of measures aimed at prevention of children's electric injuries. In the months of summer vacation when schoolchildren are free of lessons and often remain without adult supervision, they are more likely to suffer from the risk of electric shock. Football games near substations, fishing under power lines and other entertainment can be dangerous for the younger generation.

To protect children from these threats, power engineers 'arm' them with the necessary knowledge. For this purpose, in particular, they use the familiar for pupils the format of classes. Voronezhenergo's specialists hold them throughout the year, and always - before holidays, trying to reach the maximum audience with them. They tell v about the rules of behaviour near power facilities and the dangers of electric current, respond to their questions of interest. At a special mannequin schoolchildren are demonstrate how to provide first aid to victims with electric shock. Themed colouring books help better assimilate the material, which participants receive at the end of training.

In 2015 conducted over 370 lessons on electrical safety, more than five thousand schoolchildren took part in them. During May the lessons will be held in more than 30 schools of Voronezh and districts of the region.

To reduce the risk of children's electric injuries the power engineers also implement a number of technical and organizational measures. To prevent access and approach of children to power facilities, they replace dilapidated wooden doors of substations for iron ones, install fencing of substation premises, place warning signs, safety placards at power facilities, power line poles. With the support of the city authorities and the Regional Department of Education, Science and Youth Policy Voronezhenergo's specialists raise awareness by posting on the sites of educational, preschool, cultural and sports institutions relevant memos, videos, information stands - posters informing about the danger of electric current. To popularize the theme of electrical safety among schoolchildren, Voronezhenergo annually holds a themed drawing competition for children, at the same time attracting attention to the event of not only children, but also parents and teachers.

According to Deputy Chief Engineer - Head of the production safety and industrial control office of IDGC of Centre - Voronezhenergo division Natalia Stolpovskikh, prevention of children's electric injuries is a very important task for power engineers. 'Employees of the branch do active awareness-raising activities in this area. These measures will be even more effective if teachers and parents join us. Together, we can make energy safe for our children,' stressed Natalia Stolpovskikh.
