MRSK Tsentra : Smolenskenergo summed up the third season of students’ construction crews

The third labour season of students' construction crews finished at IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division. In mid-August it summed up the work of 31 students of the branch of 'National Research University 'MPEI' in Smolensk, who worked at power facilities of the Smolensk region during the summer six weeks.

This year the construction crew was conditionally divided into three groups. Ten students worked at power facilities as part of the maintenance program. Forces of the construction crew's students as part of a contractor LLC 'Smolstroyenergo' performed construction of a 6 kV cable line and reconstruction of 6 kV switchgear at the substation 'North' for the grid connection of power installations of the Perinatal Centre in Smolensk, reconstruction of a 0.4 kV overhead line in Vitsebsk alley, Profinternovskoy street and Udarnikov street.

Another third of the construction crew was involved in taking meter readings in the city of Smolensk and the Smolensk region. As part of the crews of the department of electricity metering the members of the construction crew took 3,363 readings of billing electricity meters. The young people actively took part in raids to identify non-metered consumption with participation of law enforcement agencies and the security service of the branch.

The third group of the members of the construction crew worked at Smolensk City Distribution Zone of the branch. The members, working in the staff of the cable line service of Smolensk City Distribution Zone digged 120 metres of trenches, uninstalled 80 metres of a faulty section of the cable and laid 80 metres of a new cable. The girls, who worked as technicians in different offices of the branch, proved to be good.

Before starting the work, all the students passed a special course on occupational safety and health. Each member of the students' construction crew was assigned with a mentor from among experienced employees of the company, who carried out the methodological and practical guidance.

'The students' construction crew movement helps in personnel matters, organization of temporary employment of young people, acquisition of professional skills, as well as improving the financial situation of students. And as the students of our specialized educational institution, and as the members of the students' construction crew of our branch the young people are potential candidates for the job,' stressed the head of the HR office Alla Korolkova.
