Stage Performance and Storybook Spread MTR Safety Messages at Hong Kong Book Fair 2017

Children who visited the Hong Kong Book Fair enjoyed an entertaining and informative evening today (19 July 2017) as they learned about safe and courteous behaviour when travelling on the MTR. First up was a stage performance of the newest version of the popular interactive drama "MTR x Repertory Theatre (HKRep): Master of Railway Safety - The Devil Returns". Afterwards, the children were treated to a special storytelling session by "Kee Gor", Chief of Operating of MTR Corporation Mr Francis Li.

"Kee Gor's" story came from the brand-new, hand-drawn "MTR Safety Story Book" that is being distributed to visitors for free, whilst stocks last, at this year's Book Fair. It tells of a magical and memorable MTR journey by a chicken and a bunny and how they reach their destination safely.

"MTR x HKRep: Master of Railway Safety - The Devil Returns" reinforces safety and courtesy messages in the successful "MTR x HKRep" drama series which has been enjoyed by over 130,000 students since its launch in 2011. Sponsored by MTR Corporation, free performances of the interactive drama will be held at 50 primary schools as well as 55 kindergartens and special schools in the coming 2017-18 academic year.

"At MTR, safety is our absolute priority. Although we have adopted many measures to ensure the rail network is safe and reliable, the cooperation of passengers to ensure their own safety is of paramount importance. That is why we put so much effort into mounting new and innovative campaigns to raise customers' safety awareness in our network," said Mr Francis Li, Chief of Operating of MTR Corporation. "By holding a series of events at the Hong Kong Book Fair, we hope that our customers can develop safe and courteous manners at a younger age."

Besides bringing lively performances to visitors at the Book Fair, the Corporation is also supporting People On Board Social Enterprise Limited (POB) to host an exhibition booth (Booth A02 in Hall 3C) until 25 July 2017. Visitors may take part in a series of fun and interesting games to test their understanding of railway and fire safety, as well as courteous behaviour for a chance to win unique gifts including the new "MTR Mini Board Game - Emergent Evacuation", the "MTR Safety and Courtesy Board Game" and many more. Visitors may also try out the newly upgraded version of the "MTR Safety and Courtesy Board Game" which is available for public sale. All profits earned from the sale of the board games will be retrained by POB for use in support of youth development projects in Hong Kong.
