The National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) has appointed Frank Beckers as Managing Director and Head of Project Finance Advisory.

In his position, Mr. Beckers will be responsible for the project finance advisory business, with a mandate to further developing the product suite and regionally expanding the franchise into the West-East Corridor.

Omar Mehanna, Managing Director and Global Head of Merchant Banking and Securities and Funds Administration at NBAD, said: "Project finance advisory is a key vertical of merchant banking which is closely aligned with NBAD's wholesale banking strategy as the bank expands its network along the West- East Corridor. With extensive experience in the Middle East, Africa and Asia, Frank's role will be integral to NBAD's merchant banking strategy to further expand its product service and coverage across the Corridor."

Mr. Beckers has over 22 years of banking and consultancy experience. He joins NBAD from McKinsey & Company where he served as a Senior Advisor, advising the firm and its clients globally on infrastructure & project finance. Prior to this, he worked 14 years for Deutsche Bank, where he was Global Co-Head of Project & Capital Advisory (Project Finance) from 2003 until his departure in 2012. In this role he also relocated to Deutsche Bank's branch in Dubai in 2007 to lead the expansion of the bank's franchise to the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific and establish new teams in Dubai and Singapore. Mr. Beckers started his career at DEG (KfW-Group), a specialized development financial institution owned by the German government.

Mr. Beckers holds a Master's degree in International Management from the Community of European Management Schools (CEMS) and ESADE, Spain and a Master's Degree in Economics from University of Cologne, Germany.
