NEW YORK, June 20, 2017 - The New York Times announced today that Kathleen Kingsbury has been named deputy editorial page editor of The New York Times. Currently, Ms. Kingsbury is managing editor for digital at The Boston Globe. She will join The Times in August.

In making the announcement, James Bennet, editorial page editor, The New York Times, said, 'Katie's range of accomplishments as a writer and editor points to the intellect, imagination, and ambition for great journalism that she brings to the role, as well as to her generosity as a colleague. We feel very lucky that she's joining us.'

Previously, Ms. Kingsbury edited the Ideas section and served as a deputy managing editor for the paper. She joined The Boston Globe's editorial board in 2013 and won the 2015 Pulitzer Prize for editorial writing. She has served as a New York staff writer and Hong Kong-based Asia correspondent for Time magazine, and contributed to The New York Times, Reuters, the Daily Beast, BusinessWeek, and Fortune. Ms. Kingsbury received a degree from Georgetown University's Walsh School of Foreign Service and a graduate degree from the Columbia School of Journalism. She will be based in New York City.
