Nissha Printing Co., Ltd. (hereinafter 'Nissha') conducts BCP (business continuity planning) exercises for the purpose of ensuring business continuity and maximum service to our customers, securing the safety of our employees and their families, and contributing to the restoration of communities and of society at large in the event of an emergency, such as a large earthquake.
Nissha has conducted these activities annually since the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011. Through our exercises, Nissha verifies the effectiveness of BCP and make continual improvements.
On December 22nd, 2016, Nissha conducted BCP desktop exercises at Global Headquarters in Kyoto. Target participants were mainly senior managers. This time, the scenario was a disaster due to an earthquake at the domestic base of the Devices Business. With a focus on the decision-making process of management, Nissha simulated reporting from related sections and instructions given in response, and verified the effectiveness of our actions.
The President and CEO gave orders as the headquarters task force chief, and management, the corporate division and the base unified to collaborate and take appropriate action.
Nissha promotes risk management with a risk management policy to counter risks that may have a significant impact on our business activities, and to be fully prepared in the event an emergency does occur.
Also, Nissha has in place a set of Emergency Response Regulations stipulating that Nissha sets up a group-wide response task force headed by the President and CEO in the event of a serious interruption of business due to emergency over a certain level, such as a large earthquake or new global influenza epidemic. Furthermore, Nissha promoted activities to enhance employee awareness about the general rules for action and response in an earthquake, such as stockpiling supplies at major bases in Japan, distributing 'survival cards' listing information about what to expect and do should an earthquake strike to all officers and employees of the Nissha Group in Japan, and conducting emergency drills.
Regarding BCM (business continuity management), Nissha conducted training and BIA (business impact assessment) for management and related divisions under the slogan 'BCP in Action', and in 2016, Nissha established a Basic Plan for Business Continuity Management.
By quickly solving the issues which arose during the recent BCP exercises, holding these activities regularly, and enhancing the effectiveness of our BCP, Nissha will strive to create a system which enables rapid recovery and business continuity in times of emergency.
