Orica Agriculture has begun the roll out of its 26 state-of-the-art anhydrous ammonia nurse tanks this week, signalling a change in the supply landscape of anhydrous ammonia for growers on the eastern seaboard of Australia.

The new generation nurse tanks feature accurate metering from nurse tank to applicator rig, connectivity including telemetry and GPS, and operational efficiency via a liquid pump transfer system with a transfer rate at 5 minutes per tonne. These features provide the grower greater supply confidence and significant operational efficiencies covering more ground in less time.

Orica Agriculture General Manager, Paul Scutt said the delivery of the first new generation nurse tank at one of the Seery Family properties Cambooya, Boomi, New South Wales, marks an important milestone for the business.

'Orica Agriculture is now delivering direct from manufacturing plants to farms via our dedicated B-double fleet which, combined with on-farm nurse tanks, will remove the need for regional depots,' Mr Scutt said.

'We are focused on safety, reliable supply, best-in-class products and in-field operations, and delivering value for growers.

'After testing the application of more than 6000 tonnes of anhydrous ammonia in the field to date, we are satisfied we can deliver in-field operational excellence.'

Orica's Precision™ Ammonia is sourced from Orica's plants at Newcastle, New South Wales and Gladstone, Queensland and transported in accordance with robust safety systems and protocols.

'More consistent supply will allow growers to utilise their farming equipment and labour to cover larger areas in grain and cotton production,' Mr Scutt said.

'Our technical field team is also on hand to provide growers with support to handle ammonia safely.'

Anhydrous ammonia offers the highest concentration of nitrogen, allowing growers to apply higher rates across crops, cost-effectively with fewer ammonia deliveries.

'With a concentration of 82 per cent nitrogen, Precision™ Ammonia allows growers to sow for longer without having to refill machinery. By applying this fertiliser directly into the soil, they're able to minimise losses due to volatilization,' Mr Scutt said.

Key resellers are marketing Orica Agriculture Precision™ Ammonia.
