In August, our total oil and natural gas output was 2.72 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed), of which 2.61 million boed produced in Brazil and 107,000 boed abroad.

The average oil output in the country was 2.11 million barrels per day (bpd), stable compared with July's.

Record gas usage

Natural gas production in Brazil, excluding the liquefied volume, also remained stable compared to the previous month's, at 79.9 million cubic meters per day. The usage of the gas produced at the platforms we operate reached 96.8 percent, a new monthly record.

Pre-salt

In August, the oil and natural gas output we operate (own and partner portions) in the pre-salt layer added up to 1.57 million boed, 2.5 percent less than the previous month's. This was mainly due to the scheduled shutdowns of FPSOs Cidade de Marica and Cidade de Itaguaí, both operating in the Lula field, in the Santos Basin pre-salt region.

Abroad

Oil output at overseas fields was 62,000 bpd, 4.9% less than the previous month's mark. Natural gas production was 7.8 million cubic meters per day, 7.2 percent less than the July 2017 output. This performance was mainly due to the closure of wells in producing fields in the US during the passage of Hurricane Harvey.
