Rio de Janeiro, September 15, 2017 - Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. - Petrobras reports that its total oil and natural gas production in August was 2.72 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed), 2.61 million boed of which produced in Brazil and 107 thousand boed produced abroad.

The average oil production in the country was 2.11 million barrels per day (bpd), in line with the volume of July.

The natural gas production in Brazil, excluding the liquefied volume, was 79.9 million m³/d, also in line with the previous month production. It is important to emphasize that the utilization rate of the gas produced in the platforms operated by Petrobras reached the mark of 96.8%, which represents a new monthly record.

Pre-salt production

In August, the oil and natural gas production operated by Petrobras (wholly-owned and partner shares) in the pre-salt layer was 1.57 million boed, a volume 2.5% lower than the previous month. This result is due mainly to the scheduled stoppage of FPSO Cidade de Maricá and FPSO Cidade de Itaguaí, both operating in the Lula field, in Santos Basin pre-salt.

Oil and gas production abroad

In August, oil production in overseas fields was 62 thousand bpd, 4.9% below the volume produced in the previous month. The natural gas production was 7.8 million m³/d, 7.2% below the volume produced in July. This performance resulted mainly due the wells closed in producing fields in the USA during the passage of the Hurricane Harvey.
