NEWARK, N.J., December 02, 2015 - Prudential Financial, Inc. (NYSE:PRU) announced today that has been named to the 2016 Military Friendly Employer® list by G.I. Jobs magazine. This is the sixth consecutive year the company has achieved this recognition.

'This is a significant honor for us because we work diligently to provide veterans with the resources they need to successfully transition from the military back to civilian life,' said Barbara Koster, senior vice president and global chief information officer at Prudential. 'Prudential is proud of the leadership role it plays in encouraging other companies to establish programs that help veterans find meaningful employment after their military service. For us, hiring veterans is an important component of our talent acquisition strategy because we recognize the leadership, adaptability, teamwork and results-driven skills that veterans and service members bring to the table.' Koster has oversight responsibility for Prudential's Office of Veterans Initiatives.

Charles Sevola, vice president and head of Veterans Initiatives at Prudential and an Army veteran, added that Prudential employs veterans across its domestic businesses in entry- to mid-level positions and above. 'We offer a variety of programs that help military veterans transition to the workforce, including VETNET, a business resource group for veterans and veteran supporters, that provides employees who are veterans with professional development, mentoring and networking programs. It's our privilege to work with those who have made service to our country a priority.'

In announcing the 2016 Military® Friendly companies, Daniel Nichols, chief product officer of Victory Media said, 'Companies that have earned the 2016 Military Friendly® Employer award have exceptionally strong hiring programs and meaningful careers for transitioning service members and spouses. Our Military Friendly® Employers are moving the needle beyond answering 'why hire military' - they are truly aligning their jobs and recruiting efforts with Military Friendly® educators to translate military competencies into civilian jobs.'

Criteria for the survey included a benchmark score across key programs and policies such as the strength of a company's military recruiting efforts, the percentage of new hires with prior military service, retention programs for veterans and company policies on National Guard and Reserve service.
