The Safran Aerospace Museum is revamping its facilities and website to better spotlight Safran's rich heritage and welcome the growing number of visitors. In addition to a planned expansion program, the Museum launches its redesigned website today.

A new exhibition gallery
Starting in May 2013, one of the Museum's workshops will be renovated and expanded, and will reopen in 2014 as a new exhibition gallery dedicated to rocket engines. That will give the Museum four main exhibition halls, dedicated to piston engines, jet engines, motorcycles and rocket engines. The latter will feature the Viking, HM7B, and Vulcain rocket engines made by Snecma (Safran) for Ariane launchers, and will provide an ideal backdrop for visitors to once again experience the exciting story of humanity's conquest of space.

Virtual reality
The Safran Aerospace Museum is also launching a new website today to energize its online image ( www.museesafran.com). More modern and interactive, it will allow web users to take a virtual tour of the Museum, to reserve guided tours on line, and to consult the Museum's archives and media library. Accessible from the home page of Safran's website, this new site is easy to navigate, and allows users to share content via Facebook and Twitter.

The Aerospace Museum was originally founded by Snecma at its Réau plant near Paris in 1985, in order to preserve and spotlight its outstanding heritage. It was already renovated a first time in 2000. The Museum offers an unrivaled collection of more than 100 airplane, helicopter and rocket engines; most of the aircraft engines were restored by the Association of Friends of the Safran Museum. A number of former employees are volunteers at the Museum, not only to restore its collection, but also to share their passion for aerospace by taking visitors on guided tours and answering their questions. The Museum also showcases the wide range of aircraft equipment manufactured by Safran companies, including landing gear, braking systems and much more. Furthermore, it is an unexcelled venue for exhibitions, conferences and special events, hosting more than 40 different events in 2012.
