Seagate Technology (NASDAQ:STX), a world leader in storage solutions, today announced that Jim Morris has joined Seagate as executive vice president, product lines, quality, and market operations. Morris, who has held various senior technology positions and most recently was a group president at Harris Corporation, is assuming leadership of these functions effective Monday, May 11.

“We’re excited Jim is joining us to lead this strategic function for the global organization,” said Rocky Pimentel, president, global markets and customers. “Jim is a focused and highly capable addition to the senior leadership team and his depth and breadth of experience will benefit us in a time of change and opportunity for Seagate.”

Prior to Harris Corporation, he spent 11 years at Western Digital, holding leadership positions in a number of critical functions. These ranged from leading corporate development to managing the notebook, client, and enterprise businesses and culminated in his role as executive vice president and general manager, storage products. Earlier in his career, Jim served as a U.S. Army captain and intelligence officer and received a Bronze Star during Operation Desert Storm. Following that, he held an international management position at McKinsey & Company. He is a graduate of the United States Military Academy, West Point, NY, and holds an MBA from Northwestern University.
