SINGAPORE, July 15, 2014 - Sembcorp Industries (Sembcorp) has won prestigious prizes in three out of five categories at this year's Singapore Corporate Awards, a strong endorsement of the company's excellence in management and board performance, corporate governance, financial reporting and disclosure.

The company was joint gold award winner for Best Managed Board for companies with S$1 billion and above in market capitalisation. Sembcorp's Group President & CEO Tang Kin Fei (胜科工业  集团总裁兼首席执行官  邓健辉) was named Singapore's Best Chief Executive Officer for companies with S$1 billion and above in market capitalisation, and in the same category, the company also picked up the gold award for Best Annual Report in recognition of its excellence in financial reporting and disclosure. The awards were presented at a gala dinner tonight at which the President of Singapore, Dr Tony Tan Keng Yam, was the guest of honour.

Sembcorp's Chairman Ang Kong Hua (胜科工业  独立主席  洪光华) who received the Best Managed Board award on behalf of the company, said, "We at Sembcorp are deeply honoured to receive these prestigious awards. They are a great encouragement to us as we work to maintain high standards of corporate governance and integrity, and strong leadership that is focused on strategy, prudent risk-taking and value creation.

"At Sembcorp we believe that good governance is a source of competitive advantage and the foundation of value protection and creation when it is a living process, integrated into the business, and embraced as part and parcel of the company's culture and DNA.

"With the commitment of our board as well as the action, dedication and expertise of Kin Fei and our excellent team, I know that Sembcorp will continue to grow and deliver value to our shareholders, customers, employees, partners and communities for years to come."

The Singapore Corporate Awards celebrate the best in corporate governance among listed companies, as well as individuals who, through their corporate practices, have helped to raise Singapore's standard of governance and disclosure. Organised by the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants, the Singapore Institute of Directors and The Business Times, and supported by the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority and Singapore Exchange, the Singapore Corporate Awards constitute five of the country's key corporate awards: the Best Managed Board, Best Chief Executive Officer, Best Chief Financial Officer, Best Investor Relations, and Best Annual Report awards.
