MILPITAS, CA--(Marketwired - Apr 29, 2015) - Sigma Designs® (NASDAQ: SIGM), a leading provider of intelligent system-on-chip (SoC) solutions for Smart TV, Internet of Things for Smart home and IP-based set-top-boxes, and Tecom Co., Ltd. today introduced a new G.hn powerline adaptor the HD3011 which supports a 3G/4G USB dongle add-on for distribution of mobile broadband access within the home via the G.hn-based backbone. The Tecom HD3011 G.hn powerline MIMO (multiple input, multiple output) adapter, utilizing Sigma's CG5200 G.hn chipset, also serves as wireless extender particularly in homes with thick walls or spanning multiple floors.

Sigma's G.hn chipsets enable a complete self-install home entertainment network for the distribution of multiple 4K video streams and IPTV and data over all power lines, phone lines, and coaxial wires. G.hn offers a single wired international standard for connecting devices, simplifying home networking and extending the meshed network by utilizing every power outlet, coaxial outlet, and phone jack in the home to deliver traffic seamlessly from one medium to another.

Using the HD3011 adapter alongside the recently introduced HD3000 (G.hn powerline MIMO to Ethernet bridge) and HD3010 (G.hn powerline to Wi-Fi extender), consumers enjoy convenience and flexibility in delivering traffic seamlessly over the powerline infrastructure, as every power socket is part of the same meshed network.

"Our collaboration with Sigma Designs allows us to design powerful and robust products for G.hn powerline connectivity," David Chou, Head of Broadband and Wireless business unit for Tecom. "As a result, we can provide consumers with outstanding technology that enables advanced home networking services and improves data rates."

"The G.hn solutions we have developed with Tecom remove complexity and provide unprecedented convenience with a simple plug-and-play installation, offering significant benefits to both consumers and service providers. By using all home wiring -- power, data and phone -- the Sigma G.hn chipsets can successfully and reliably extend the home network and enable distribution of high-bandwidth services such as multiple 4K video streams," said Nadav Katsir, vice president connectivity business unit of Sigma Designs.

Sigma's G.hn chipset family provides:
