April 23, 2016, wellness real estate and technology firm Delos and Chinese real estate company Sino-Ocean Land launched a series of WELL Building Standard (WELL) training workshops in Beijing as part of their partnership to advance healthy building in China. Similar trainings will take place throughout the country as WELL is being adopted by Sino-Ocean Land through a broad range of projects.

Sino-Ocean Land and Delos first announced their partnership in December 2015, pledging to promote health and wellness in China by transforming indoor environments. The companies announced an expanded partnership last month in which Sino-Ocean Land will incorporate WELL in over 26 million square feet (2.5 million sqm) of building projects in their portfolio over a five-year period. Through these training workshops, Sino-Ocean Land will also advance the promotion of WELL throughout China.

The inaugural workshop will convene today in Beijing as Sino-Ocean Land executives will participate in a half-day intensive discussion on the seven Concepts of the WELL Building Standard, the underlying scientific and medical research, and the significance of adopting WELL in real estate projects. A full-day workshop will take place tomorrow on April 24 when technical employees will dive into the applications of WELL on specific projects. About 400 people are expected to participate on-site or via video conference.

'Sino-Ocean Land has been an invaluable partner in the expansion of WELL across China, demonstrating great leadership in the healthy building movement,' said Paul Scialla, Founder and CEO of Delos. 'The new workshops will be an excellent channel for the company to share its expertise and experience with WELL as they continue to support our mission to transform indoor environments into spaces that actively contribute to human health, performance and well-being.'

WELL is an evidence and performance-based system for measuring, certifying and monitoring features that impact human health and well-being in the built environment, through air, water, nourishment, light, fitness, comfort and mind. The goal of these workshops is to elevate the understanding of WELL and deepen the culture of healthy building among real estate industry leaders.

'As one of the first companies to pursue WELL for our project portfolio, we are in a unique position to share our knowledge and serve as a model for the industry,' said Mr. Ming Li, Chairman of Sino-Ocean Land and a member of the Delos Advisory Board. 'We are eager to spread the word about WELL in China, and look forward to doing so through this new programming.'
