Four new ToolBanks will each receive a generous donation of Stanley Black & Decker tools and equipment this October, advancing their efforts to open for tool lending in the next few months. Valued at more than $120,000, the tools will become part of an initial tool inventory, which will be lent to volunteers in Phoenix, etc. to help power community improvement projects. Donated tools include DEWALT cordless drills, DEWALT reciprocating saws, STANLEY FUBAR wrecking bars, STANLEY tape measures, and more.

The national ToolBank network is changing the way Americans build, strengthen, and revitalize communities by providing reliable access to critically needed tools. ToolBank tools are borrowed by charities, schools, and faith-based organizations to equip volunteers and perform service projects, while reducing overall expenses. In 2013, the four ToolBanks currently operating in Atlanta, Baltimore, Charlotte, and Cincinnati loaned in excess of $2.5M in tools to charitable organizations, equipping roughly 124,000 volunteers as they worked to improve their local communities. ToolBanks in Houston, Portland OR, Phoenix and Richmond VA will each receive a shipment of the recent Stanley Black & Decker tool donation.

“What we love about the ToolBank is that it puts high-quality tools into the hands of Americans who volunteer their time to improve their communities,” said Tim Perra, Vice President of Communications, Stanley Black & Decker. “Stanley Black & Decker has a long history of community engagement, and the ToolBank allows us to put more tools in the hands of more volunteers, more often.”

Stanley Black & Decker’s giving began over ten years ago, in support of the original ToolBank in Atlanta GA. Stanley Black & Decker’s support now includes cash support for ToolBank USA (the national parent organization) and the provision of security systems and monitoring services to all ToolBanks. Stanley Black & Decker giving also fueled the creation of ToolBank Disaster Services, a program of ToolBank USA that provides tools to volunteers responding to disaster events anywhere in the United States. The value of Stanley Black & Decker’s investment in the ToolBank network has exceeded $1.3 million since 2010.

“The amazing growth of the ToolBank over the last few years would not have happened without Stanley Black & Decker,” said ToolBank USA board President Dan Webber. “Stanley Black & Decker has allowed us to build the national ToolBank network from the ground up and has been one of our most valued investors.”
