Bosch Group Monday rejected a media report that it is in talks with the U.K. government about opening a new U.K. automotive plant.
A Bosch spokeswoman said the company is "not in any talks with the government or leading car makers about the opening of any new UK automotive plant."
The Sunday Telegraph newspaper reported on Sunday that Bosch and other automotive parts companies have held secret talks with the U.K. government and car makers about opening new U.K. plants, citing one unidentified senior industry source.
Tata Motors Ltd.'s (TTM) Jaguar Land Rover unit and other car makers are playing a leading role in the talks because they want to cut costs by sourcing more parts locally. There has been an exodus of suppliers over the past few decades, with Bosch closing its last remaining U.K. factory last year in June, according to the report.
