TP Ajmer Distribution Limited ( TPADL), a Special Purpose Vehicle formed by Tata Power Company Ltd announced the go-live of SAP-ISU covering entire revenue cycle for all categories of consumers. The digital foundation of SAP-ISUwas laid on 25th January 2018 with go-live of ECC-ERP application on HANA 2.0 database, automating and streamlining business processes including Ordering, Maintenance Operations, HR and Financial reporting. SAP-ISU covers end to end revenue cycle management including New connection, Meter Management, Meter Reading, Billing, Receivables and customer service. The solution is integrated with many peripheral systems and gateways including customer portal, offline cash collection module, payment gateways (PayTM, Billdesk, eMitra), SMRD integration through PI, SMS gateway and single window service for Call Centre. A total of 51 (standard & customized) reports have also been made available to ensure smooth functioning of business operation.

The project was implemented in an aggressive and record timeframe of 3 months post the SAP -ECC implementation in end-Jan 2018, covering configuration, integration, rigorous system & user testing, meticulous data migration and well planned cut-over activities. With this implementation, the dependency on legacy system extended by the Licensee (AVVNL) has been taken off well before expiry date (30th June 2018) as per DF contract with AVVNL.

The single most important highlight of this project is collaborative working of geographically and functionally diverse teams drawn from three Group companies (TPADL, TPDDL, TPC) along with their associates.

Key highlights:

  • Inhouse implementation without involvement of any dedicated external 3P SI consultant partner.
  • Effective use of onsite (TPADL)/offsite (TPC-TPDDL) model.
  • Sustained business engagement with the regulators and the legacy service provider, HCL

Other highlights, which have transpired are :

  • First SAP ISU Implementation in Rajasthan State.
  • Arguably, first ISU implementation on Hana database for a Distribution Utility in India.
