Tata Power, India's largest integrated Power Company, has always been committed to the health and wellbeing of the community it serves. In keeping with this philosophy, Deherand Tata Power Project (DTPP) has extended its support to strengthen the Government Health sub Centre at Shahapur village in Maharashtra. Under its theme of 'Building and strengthening health care facilities' (Arogya), Tata Power aims to provide the villagers of Shahapur with various curative, promotional and preventive health services delivered to the sub centre under the partnership model.

The objective of this initiative was to ensure quality healthcare services to its communities. The Tata Power team supported the sub-centre with a qualified doctor and 2 nurses, in addition to medicines and equipment, as per the IPHS guidelines of the Govt. The team also ensured 100% immunization of children within the age group of 0 to 5 years, and Ante Natal Care (ANC) check-up for all pregnant women of the village. The team also actively participated in the government's special drive for polio immunisation in the villages, thereby, covering 170 children between 0 to 5 years old. Under the curative health programs conducted through this project, 1532 patients have received Outpatient Services at the sub Centre.

The health team tied up with School health program of National Health Mission to periodically organise health camps for students to watch their health indicators, benefitting more than 296 students. Additionally, Tata Power's health team also launched various preventive health campaigns for behavioral change among villagers by conducting awareness programs against vector borne diseases, campaign against tobacco, campaign against HIV -AIDS, Campaign against T.B. and campaign for Swacch Vidyalaya. Tata Power has also created awareness among the villagers on the various health related schemes such as PM Jeevan Jyoti Yojana, PM Suraksha Yojana and Aam Adami Bima Yojana (AABY) and has covered 739 villagers under these schemes.
