TATNEFT Company was again named the absolute winner of the Republican 'ECOleader' contest. The 'TANECO' Complex was awarded the first place in the nomination 'Oil producing and petrochemical industry', while Oil and Gas Production Division' Aznakaevskneft' was awarded the third place.

The ceremony of awarding the winners of the Republican 'ECOleader' and 'Man and Nature' contests was held in Kazan with participation of Ildar Khalikov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan. The event was attended by the heads of the largest companies in the Republic, heads of municipal districts and representatives of the media.

The contests 'ECOleader' and 'Man and Nature' are annual events and they are held by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural resources of the Republic of Tatarstan with the aim of attracting the public attention to environmental security issues, promoting environmental protection activities of enterprises, as well as revitalizing of the republican media and enhancing the professional skills of journalists specializing in environmental topics.

The winners of the media contest 'Man and Nature' include the corporate media journalists of the Company, actively promoting environmental issues, thereby contributing to environmental education of the population of our Republic. The Company's corporate newspaper 'Oil News' was awarded the first place in the category 'The Company's media', and Nailya Ganeyeva, journalist of 'Khezine' newspaper, was also distinguished.

The awards received by TATNEFT and TANECO reaffirmed the high efficiency of environmental measures implemented by the Company in the region of the Company's activities. The activities of the Joint Stock Company ensuring the environmental safety are performed in accordance with the requirements of the federal laws in the field of environmental protection and meet all applicable environmental rules and regulations.

There was the fourth environmental program for 2016-2020 developed by TATNEFT, which objectives, inter alia, include further reduction of anthropogenic impacts on the environment and rational utilization of natural resources.

The subsidiaries and structural divisions of the Joint Stock Company have cleaned, capped and architecturally rehabilitated more than five hundred spring sources in the territory of the Company's activities.

Over 1,176 hectares of land were reclaimed in 2016 during the construction of pipelines and other oil production facilities.

The Company is landscaping strips along the motor roads in the oil regions of Tatarstan. More than 450,000 seedlings of trees and shrubs have been planted, including 15,000 seedlings planted in 2016.

A comprehensive system of selective accumulation, collection and recycling of wastes as well as recycling of production and consumption wastes has been established at TATNEFT.

The Company is actively involved in improving the eco-surroundings of the cities in the region including laying out of parks and squares, beautification of streets and avenues, acquisition of dust collecting, cleaning and snow-cleaning machines for municipalities.

Recent years have witnessed funding of the various environmental activities of the Company in the amount of RUB 6.6 billion per year.
