Castleford Academy students are packing their bags for a dream trip to Australia, with the help of our Yorkshire team.

Eight Year 11 pupils will jet off to Australia, after taking their GCSEs, to stay with a partner school, in Queensland, for a six-week sports and educational experience.

We are donating £500, providing the funds to help pay for flights and accommodation.

Mr Panayiotou, Headteacher at Castleford Academy, comments: 'This truly is the trip of a lifetime. Our eight gifted students are being rewarded with the trip in July, where they'll attend our partner school, Mackay State High. They'll get fully immersed there and get the chance to play rugby for both the academy and local amateur club.'

James Poynor, Managing Director, Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire, adds: 'OurPoppy Grangedevelopment is in Glasshoughton, close to Castleford Academy, so when we heard of the opportunity to help sponsor this trip, we were delighted to step in.

'We've no doubt the students will make memories to last forever and we are very happy to help deliver them.'

Mr Panayiotou concludes: 'We are so grateful for this generous donation. The students are more and more excited every day as they get nearer to their dream trip.'
