Our South Thames region is pleased to announce that the charity Kangaroos are the first winners of the recently launched donation box scheme at itsGreenhill Gardens development. The charitable initiative invites visitors and residents to the development in Haywards Heath to vote for one of three local good causes to receive a £250 donation. Kangaroos, a charity which supports children and young adults with learning disabilities, received the most votes during April and will receive a donation from the team.

For nearly 25 years Haywards Heath based charity Kangaroos has been running a range of inclusive clubs and day trips for children and young adults with learning disabilities and complex medical needs. Helping individuals and their families from the Mid Sussex area, Kangaroos supports children from the age of six who have autism, cerebral palsy, Down's syndrome and other medical conditions. The charity enables the children to take part in specially developed activities delivered by a group of caring staff and volunteers, while families enjoy a much needed break.

Commenting on Taylor Wimpey's donation, Samantha Norgate, Fundraising and Communications Co-ordinator at Kangaroos, said: 'With the continuous threat of cuts to voluntary sector funding we have been trying to increase awareness of the work we do and to encourage more voluntary donations. We were therefore delighted to find out that the local community had chosen us to be the first recipients of a £250 donation from Taylor Wimpey. Our clubs are in high demand and the activities we put on really do help to improve the children's social skills, independence and self esteem. It's vital that we continue our work and donations like this from Taylor Wimpey will help up to do just that and I'd like to say a big thank you for the support.'

Susan Joseph, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey South Thames, said: 'The clubs and activities that Kangaroos organise help so many children across Mid Sussex and I have no doubt that our £250 donation will be put to excellent use. Our donation box scheme is a great way for local people to tell us who they think is most deserving of our support and we look forward to announcing the next winner.'
