Taylor Wimpey : Primary school children learn about health and safety

Easter arrived early for children at Longford Park Primary School in Banbury, after our Oxfordhsire region visited the school prior to Easter to read to the children and hand out free Easter eggs during a special assembly.

Elaine Stratford, Sales and Marketing Director at Taylor Wimpey Oxfordshire, visited the school on Monday (26th March) to read our latest children's storybook, 'How We Build Your Home'. The book explains the different stages involved in housebuilding, from picking a plot to putting in the windows and decorating the new rooms, told through our mascots, Millie Mortar and Handy Andy. The book also gives children safety tips for visiting new sites and seeing their brand new home being built. The pupils, aged 4 and 5, were then treated to a chocolate Easter egg each to mark the start of the Easter break.

Julie Hiddleston, Executive Headteacher at Longford Park Primary School said: 'The children thoroughly enjoyed the reading of Taylor Wimpey's new book. Many families choose to move house during the spring and summer months, and this was a great opportunity for the children to learn about the process in a really engaging way, as well as understanding the importance of site safety. It's great to see a company like Taylor Wimpey taking the time to local pupils about something that really matters. We are very grateful to them for visiting our school.'

Commenting on the visit, Elaine Stratford said: 'It was great to see the students engaging with the book reading, as well as showing a genuine interest in finding out how we build our new homes. At Taylor Wimpey, we are committed to working closely with the local communities that we build in, so it is vital that we inform children in schools around our developments about the risks to look out for around our construction sites.'
