Community Guide Hall grounds look blooming beautiful

Date: Tuesday 16 December 2014

We provided a cash boost to help breathe a new lease of life into a community guide hall's grounds in Hampshire.

Fleet's Community Guide Hall, near our Queensacre at Crookham Park development in Church Crookham, received a £1,000 donation to improve the outdoor space, providing a fresh and colourful display for members of the community to enjoy.

Tommy Judges - who works as a gardener for us - was also on hand to plant, shovel, weed and trim the grounds of the hall, which is located off Basingbourne Road.

The hall is home to over 500 members of Rainbows, Brownies, Girl Guides, Senior Sector and Leaders, as well as being rented out regularly to a variety of local residents and groups.

Judith Buchanan, chair of the grounds committee for Fleet's Community Guide Hall, says: "The grounds previously looked quite bare, so it's wonderful that the area now looks absolutely lovely following the transformation, and something that everyone can enjoy.

"Tommy put in a beautiful array of plants and flowers, including a holly bush with berries, some heather, and even lavender to make everywhere smell nice - he really went the extra mile. A lot won't blossom until the summer, so we're definitely expecting a wonderful splash of colour to arrive then!

"In future, we would love to see the Rainbows, Brownies and Girl Guides get a better connection with the outdoors, so this is just another step towards getting everyone outside and enjoying the environment.

"I am very pleased that businesses like Taylor Wimpey have given both their time and money towards helping us make this a better place for everyone."

Emma Jones, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey West London, says: "As a local housebuilder, we are delighted to have been able to help Fleet's Community Guide Hall by improving their grounds.

"We're really happy to be able to contribute to such a wonderful community facility, and I hope the Rainbows, Brownies, Girl Guides and other local groups will enjoy the beautiful new flowers, plants and scenery!"

A selection of four-bedroom homes is currently available at Queensacre at Crookham Park.
