Teleflex Incorporated (NYSE:TFX) announced today the launch of the new Arrow FlexTip Plus Multi-Port epidural catheter, which is based on the same proven technology of the market-leading1 Arrow FlexTip Plus Single-Port catheter. This follows the new device's recent 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The FlexTip Plus Multi-Port is a coil-reinforced epidural catheter that features a soft, flexible closed tip with four lateral holes. It has been added to the Arrow catheter family to provide anesthesia providers with more options, allowing them to decide the drug dispersion method for the epidural procedures they perform.

Although the tip of the FlexTip Plus Multi-Port catheter is modified from the open tip version, it uses the same coil-reinforced, polyurethane technology used in the open tip FlexTip Plus Single-Port catheter, which has been proven to significantly reduce complications commonly associated with nylon epidural catheters.2 Studies have also associated this catheter design with easier insertion, less movement out of the epidural space, better block quality, and higher satisfaction rates.3

The FlexTip Plus Multi-Port catheter is now available in a variety of Arrow brand kit and set configurations to meet the specific needs of anesthesia providers, and is also available through Teleflex's Arrow Select Kits program for inclusion in custom kits.

"We're excited to be offering the FlexTip Plus Multi-Port epidural catheter alongside the Single-Port catheter," said Cary Vance, President, Teleflex Anesthesia and Respiratory. "Customers have been asking for a closed tip catheter option from Arrow, and we have delivered. We are pleased to be able to provide the well-proven benefits of the Arrow FlexTip Plus catheter in a closed tip, multi-port design to meet the needs and demands of our Regional Anesthesia partners."
