RM50 million to be injected to catalyse Medini's position as the Central Business District of Nusajaya

Medini Iskandar Malaysia Sdn Bhd ('MIMSB'), the company behind the master planning and infrastructure development of the 2,230-acre township Medini Iskandar Malaysia ('Medini'), is proud to have inked its first telecommunications agreement with Telekom Malaysia Berhad ('TM') for the establishment of a joint venture company that provides ICT services to fulfill the smart and sustainable aspirations of Medini. To commemorate this milestone achievement, a document exchange ceremony was held today in Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre in conjunction with the 11th World Islamic Economic Forum, witnessed by YAB Dato' Sri Najib Tun Razak, Prime Minister of Malaysia and Tun Musa Hitam, Chairman of the World Islamic Economic Forum.

The partnership agreement was executed through Township Management Services Sdn Bhd ('TMSSB') (a wholly owned subsidiary of Medini Iskandar Malaysia Sdn Bhd) and Intelsec Sdn Bhd (a wholly owned subsidiary of Telekom Malaysia Berhad) with a capital injection of RM50 million. Representing TM at the document exchange ceremony was its Group Chief Executive Officer Tan Sri Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa, and from Medini Iskandar Malaysia Sdn Bhd was its Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer Ir. Khairil Anwar Ahmad.

Fully aligned with Medini's aspiration of becoming the Central Business District of Nusajaya, MIMSB through TMSSB will deliver a full suite of township and facilities management services for a unique and secured community experience. TMSSB continuously explores strategic partnerships with various parties and these partnerships will create greater integration of services to the community, and will raise the livability standards of Medini.

Ir. Khairil explained, 'One of the portfolio of services under TMSSB is 'Information & Communication Technology', where the partnership formed with Intelsec Sdn Bhd would further strengthen our role as a township management services provider in Medini. As mentioned by the YAB Menteri Besar Johor recently, MIMSB is expected to be the driver of smart city development in Medini Iskandar Malaysia and we are very pleased to be signing our first telecommunications agreement, as we envision for high speed broadband infrastructure to empower e-commerce delivery throughout the estate.'

'This is a notable achievement for us at MIMSB because we have progressed from being a master planner in 2008, to an active developer in 2013, and now a township management services provider in 2015. The availability of such unique integrated services will be an attractive point of consideration for both domestic and foreign businesses and investors. The first initiative to be undertaken upon the mobilisation of the joint venture company is to work on fitting in smart solutions for MIMSB's first office tower, namely Medini 9, which will be completed in 2018' Ir. Khairil added.

Tan Sri Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa said, 'The objective of the partnership with MIMSB is to create value and deliver an enhanced experience through ICT and smart services in support of MIMSB's objective of developing Medini into a connected and sustainable city. Our aspiration is to be a strategic partner to attract more investors and businesses to relocate and setup operations in Medini.'

'As the nation's leading fully integrated communications and ICT services provider and leveraging on our expertise in smart city solutions, the joint venture with Medini is part of a broader commitment on TM's part in Iskandar Johor, specifically in Nusajaya. With the development of a world class data centre and an Integrated Operations Centre (IOC), TM provides integrated solutions for Smart City services as well as gives businesses a more competitive advantage globally,' he continued.

The development of the 21-storey office building 'Medini 9' was recently launched and is expected to be completed in 2018. Medini 9 is MIMSB's third office building that is currently being developed, located in a cluster development known as The Pulse. Positioned as a Premier Green Office Park, The Pulse, covers an area of 24 acres. There are already two other office buildings operating in The Pulse, namely Medini 6 and Medini 7. Being the first out of four cluster developments led by MIMSB, development within The Pulse will anchor Medini's position as the Central Business District of Nusajaya.
