TM Research & Development Sdn Bhd (TM R&D), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) recently signed a Collaboration Agreement (CA) with UMCH Technology Sdn Bhd (UMCH) to pave the way for more joint research and development (R&D) collaborations between both organisations in the near future.

Dr. Gopi Kurup, Chief Executive Officer, TM R&D and Maimunah Reduan, General Manager, Strategy & Business Management, TM R&D signed the agreement on behalf of TM R&D while UMCH was represented by Prof. Dr. Awang Bulgiba Awang Mahmud, Chairman of UMCH and Prof. Dr. Loo Chu Kiong, Director of UMCH.

Commenting on the collaboration, Dr Gopi shared, 'As the research arm of TM, Malaysia's Convergence Champion, TM R&D is committed in exploring ways in which new Internet of Things (IoT), ICT and digital services can transform business operations, including players in service sector such as healthcare services towards further enhancing their service delivery to their end customers. This collaboration with UMCH aims to set a new benchmark in e-health services, building on strengthen of both partners.'

The objective of this agreement is to collaborate on research & development activities for Informative Domain Application Service (IDAS) project under TM R&D. In the collaboration, TM R&D develops IoT platform for e-Health applications while UMCH assists TM R&D in the areas of health data analytics, monitoring and fitness algorithms for the IDAS system.

The CA will enable both parties to mutually benefit through competency and capability development in the advanced areas of e-health / m-health new technology frontier.

There are two (2) clinical pilot tests namely, Corporate Integrated Fitness and Remote Chronic Disease Monitoring for use among Ambulatory Care Patients will be carried out during the implementation of this project.

Together, we believe we can build a healthier nation,' said Prof. Dr. Awang Bulgiba who is also the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International) of University of Malaya.
