TenarisHydril Dopeless® technology is being used for the first time in Ecuador to comply with more stringent environmental regulations in the Amazon rainforest, at two of the country's largest oil fields, Shushufindi and Libertador. The companies that were awarded with the oil fields' service contracts, the Shushufindi consortium and Pardaliservices respectively, selected Blue® Dopeless® connections to complete the Aguarico 44D and Secoya 26 wells, gaining an average of 30% in running speed and eliminating break-outs and rejects. Tenaris field services personnel were on site to optimize installation and improve the reliability, efficiency, and safety of the projects.

By eliminating the need for thread compounds, Dopeless® technology makes rig sites cleaner and safer while decreasing their environmental footprint, a significant concern in both of these mature Amazon oil fields. At the Shushufindi field, the largest in Ecuador's Oriente Basin, the Aguarico 44D production well included 288 Blue® Dopeless® connections on 3 1/2 inch, 9.2 lb/ft L80 Cr1 grade pipe, run to a depth of 9,000 feet. At the Libertador field, 282 Blue® Dopeless® connections were installed at 8,922 feet in the Secoya 26 injection well. All of the pipes for these wells were stored locally at Tenaris's pipe yard and service center in Coca, Ecuador.
