Delegates from across Canada were in Calgary, Alberta last week at the Canadian Energy Supply Chain Forum. This conference brings together buyers and sellers in Canada's energy industry.

Dave McHattie, Institutional Relations Director for Canada, and Ronald Rocher, Line Pipe Sales Director for Canada, joined over 50 speakers and panelists in a three-day program to discuss improvements to the effectiveness of Canada's supply chain.

Ronald Rocher participated in a breakout session on the "Scope and Specification Development - Building the right foundation for successful partnerships" on Wednesday, October 29. Through the use of several case studies, Rocher demonstrated the impact of procurement strategy on downstream projects.

"When sourcing partners in a capital intensive Canadian energy project, aligning with the right manufacturer that understands and values the total cost of ownership for the end-user is essential.  At Tenaris, we drive value and savings  for the end-user by taking ownership of the project costs from the beginning.  Our experienced supply chain management approach  takes into account all the potential risk variances in a project lifespan by providing flexible pipe production, delivery compliance and final pricing.  Project management models such as these ensure quality, reliability and performance which cumulatively attribute to project savings." said Ronald Rocher.

In the afternoon, Dave McHattie illustrated the importance of building and maintaining domestic manufacturing and a local supply chain in a discussion of "Energy Supply Chain Network Best Practices: Quick Wins + Long-Term Solutions." McHattie presented seven values that represent the long-term social and economic benefits of developing Canadian manufacturing.

Dave mentioned that, "The social and economic value to working with local manufacturers like Tenaris is immense, supporting Canadian job growth, community investments, innovation, security of supply and product quality- key business ethics that Canadians deserve and demand."

With over 15 years of experience and three production facilities in Canada, Tenaris is committed to Canadian manufacturing and local energy development.
