Press Release October 2017

GOXM HAS BEEN AROUND THE WORLD TWICE AND DISCOVERY PLANTED 800 TREES TO CELEBRATE THIS FEAT

It all started with the recent launch of the Discovery Go The Extra Mile challenge, designed to attract people from all walks of life to reach for the stars on their endurance competition. Now this program will also help make the environment greener as it plants a tree for each 100 km its participants accomplish. This is GoXM Forest. The further you go, the greener our planet becomes.

Since early September and until the end of the 2017, the Discovery Go The Extra Mile challenge is motivating people from more than 25 European countries to walk, run and cycle as far as they can. The goal? To win a dream trip to one of the most eco-friendly countries on Earth, Costa Rica, among other prizes. But most importantly, everybody will be able to enjoy the true grand prize: a greener environment, thanks to the GoXM Forest program.

For every 100 kms that the contestants cover, Discovery will plant a tree in a 5 acre property in Água Alva, in southern Portugal. Three different tree species will be planted here including oaks, cork oaks and strawberry trees. To date, participants have covered more than 80.000 km, which is roughly two trips around the world, and has resulted in a total of 800 trees being planted. For those of you interested in assessing the program's progress or even seeing what the region looks like, you can keep an eye on it via Discovery's webpage.

When the life of the planet is at stake, it is perfectly healthy to foster a little competition. Thus, every month, Discovery will nominate the team that has gained the greatest mileage and, in so doing, contributed the most to the reforestation of Água Alva. The winners will be awarded the "Greenest Team Of The Month".

Now every time people walk, run, cycle or in any way push themselves further with the Discovery Go The Extra Mile app, they are helping the environment. GoXM Forest. The further you go, the greener our planet becomes.

Go Further. Go Greener.

The GoXM Forest program reinforces Discovery's new positioning, highlighted by the tag line "Go Further. Go Greener". Inspired by the world of sports, this motto embodies the advantages brought by this leading brand: the ability to improve business whilst protecting the environment.

Discovery is the perfect balance between sustainability and performance. As a low-grammage paper made from Eucalyptus globulus fibres, it saves natural resources whilst allowing users to save money and guaranteeing excellent runnability. In short, a partner that will help businesses go further and greener at the same time. It's only natural that, according to the most recent Opticom Brand Equity Tracking Survey, Discovery users show a strong loyalty to the Brand.
