Electricity Supply & Demand Report for the first half of FY2016-
Electricity Demand (See Table 1)
Electric power sold in the first half of FY2016 decreased from a year ago to 35,316 GWh, which was 98.5% compared to the same period of the previous year. A longer period of meter reading and an increase in cooling demand caused by hot days in the latter half of summer could not offset a decrease in contract demand.
The details are as follows:
Lighting (Residential)
Power demand in the lighting (residential) sector was 101.0% compared to the same period of the previous year. Thanks to a longer period of meter reading and an increase in cooling demand caused by hot days in the latter half of summer raised the demand.
Power
Power demand in the power sector was 97.5% compared to the same period of the previous year. A longer period of meter reading and an increase in cooling demand caused by hot days in the latter half of summer could not offset a decrease in contract demand.

- Electricity Supply (See Table 2)
Our generated and purchased power in the first half of FY2016 totaled 38,150 GWh, which was 98.4% compared to the same period of the previous year.
(Power generated by our own hydro power stations)
Our hydro power generated output totaled 3,696 GWh, a decrease of 603 GWh from the previous year, due to a low water flow rate of 79.6%, down 16.0% year-on-year.
(Power generated by our own thermal power stations)
Due to differences in operational conditions and other factors, our thermal power generated output was up to 26,840 GWh, an increase of 1,742 GWh from the previous year.
(Power generated by our own nuclear power stations)
All units of the Onagawa Nuclear Power Station and unit 1 of the Higashidori Nuclear Power Station have been shut down because of a regular inspection; therefore, there was no generated output from our nuclear power stations.
(Power generated by our own facilities using renewables and new energy)
Owing to differences in operational conditions in geothermal power stations and other factors, generated output of renewables and new energy was 456 GWh, an increase of 5 GWh from the previous year.
(Power purchased from other companies)
Due to differences in operational conditions in other companies' thermal power stations and other factors, power purchased from other companies was 11,113 GWh, a decrease of 861 GWh from the previous year.
