Receipt of the Finalized Environmental Impact Assessment Results regarding the Additional Establishment of Group 2, Units 2 and 3 at Kawasaki Thermal Power Station


Today we received the finalized "Environmental impact assessment results regarding the additional establishment of Group 2, Units 2 and 3 at Kawasaki Thermal Power Station" (hereafter the "assessment results") from the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry. The assessment results (in accordance with the Environmental Impact Assessment Law and the Electricity Business Act) were submitted to the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry for review on November 9, 2012 and a notification has been given that no further changes need to be made.

In accordance with the Electricity Business Act, we will send the assessment results to the governors of Kanagawa and Tokyo as well as the mayors of Kawasaki City, Yokohama City, Ota Ward and Shinagawa Ward. Also, the assessment results will be reviewed by the administrative agencies, TEPCO Kanagawa Branch Office, Kawasaki Service Center and Kawasaki Thermal Power Station during the period of January 11 to February 12, 2013 in compliance with the Environmental Impact Assessment Law.

After the assessment results are reviewed by all entities above, the entire procedure in compliance with the Environmental Impact Assessment Law will be completed, and the construction is to be commenced in April 2013. We will steadily advance this plan with understanding gained among the people in the surrounding area and the parties involved.
