Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) has signed an agreement with The City of Calgary (The City) in Alberta, Canada for Tyler’s iasWorld CAMA™ computer-assisted mass appraisal software and iasWorld Inquiry & Appeals™ tracking solution. The contract, valued at US$5.9 million (CA$7.6 million), includes software licenses, maintenance, support and implementation.

A recognized leader in the application of sophisticated valuation methods, Calgary has approximately 510,000 accounts and 1.2 million residents, selected Tyler’s iasWorld® software, a proven solution that helps jurisdictions improve assessment quality, reduce operational and overhead costs, enhance data flow between agencies and improve employee productivity. iasWorld has been implemented in 25 U.S. states, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas.

The City’s assessment business unit (ABU) chose iasWorld to replace its legacy assessment solution due to Tyler’s experience in Canada, its appraisal expertise, singular focus on serving the public sector, and Tyler’s overall financial strength and stability.

“It was important for the ABU to find a modern assessment solution with the functionality to meet our demanding needs without requiring much customization, and iasWorld delivered what we wanted,” said Nelson Karpa, director of assessment. “We also valued Tyler’s commitment to supporting the ABU’s vision of being a leading annual market value assessment jurisdiction, earning the respect and trust of our customers every day.”

Tyler’s new relationship with The City further deepens its presence in, and experience with, Canadian provinces. In April 2016, iasWorld was selected by BC Assessment, a Crown corporation for the Province of British Columbia that creates uniform assessments and trusted property information; iasWorld has also been live for several years in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.

“We look forward to helping the ABU meet its goal of creating more efficient processes, benefiting its staff, its customers, and other City departments,” said Mark Hawkins, senior vice president of software operations in Tyler’s Appraisal & Tax Division. “Calgary has entrusted Tyler in a very critical area, given that about half of The City’s total annual operating budget is funded by tax revenue from business and property taxes. It’s a responsibility Tyler takes seriously, and we will work hard to meet expectations of The City, its property owners and everyone who calls Calgary home.”

Calgary will benefit from Tyler’s evergreen perpetual licensing approach that provides regular and significant, yet manageable, software enhancements without an additional relicensing fee, ensuring all systems are the latest technology.

Calgary covers more than 300 square miles and is the most populated city in the province of Alberta.
