Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) has signed a seven-year software-as-a-service (SaaS) agreement with Virginia’s Frederick County Public Schools for Tyler’s Munis® enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution and Tyler SIS™ (student information system). The agreement includes hosting, project management, training and related professional services. The school organization utilized the existing National Joint Powers Alliance (NJPA) contract in procuring Munis and Tyler SIS.

Frederick County Public Schools sought a modern financial management, human resources and payroll solution because its legacy system no longer met the organization’s needs. Frederick County Public Schools also needed a new student information system to increase data access for administration, staff, parents and students. The school organization wanted one technology company to provide both solutions to ease integration, help eliminate disparate systems and reduce the overall technology footprint.

Frederick County Public Schools chose several core Munis applications, including financial, human resources and payroll management. The project will also implement Tyler SIS, which includes Tyler’s new parent-student portal, Student 360. Tyler has decades of experience with Virginia school systems.

Because of the integrated nature of Munis and Tyler SIS, the school system will be able to streamline processes and share data across departments and systems. For example, when a new teacher is added to Munis payroll, the teacher will also be added to Tyler SIS. Having the solutions delivered via a SaaS model allows Tyler clients to free up IT staff to focus on other projects; it also provides built-in redundancies to prevent data loss and downtime.

Frederick County Public Schools serves approximately 13,000 students in 20 schools.
