Unilever UK and Ireland is supporting the British Government's new campaign, Get In. Go Far, to inspire young people to apply for apprenticeships.

Targeting 14-24 year olds across the UK, the Get In. Go Far campaign is linked to the Government's commitment of creating three million apprenticeships by 2020. It aims to inspire young people to consider apprenticeships, traineeships and work experience as a valid and credible route to rewarding career and seeks to inform parents and teachers of the quality of opportunities available. It also aims to increase interest and demand from employers in running apprenticeship programmes.

The campaign will be supported by a combination of advertising on TV, outdoor posters and social media. It will aim to direct young people to the campaign's website, where they will be able to see a clear pathway to a career through opportunities with apprenticeships, traineeships and work experience.

From a Unilever perspective, the campaign aligns well to the company's commitment to increasing and expanding its Apprenticeship Programme in the UK.

Placid Jover, Vice President of Human Resources, Unilever UKI said: 'At Unilever, developing opportunities for young people is something we are committed to and value. Over the past two years, we've increased our intake by 70 per cent. We believe that our apprenticeships both enable young people to gain the skills and qualifications to establish their careers, and enhance the creativity of our work by bringing in fresh perspectives.'

Now there are over two hundred apprentices across Unilever's sites in the UK, with a new intake commencing in September this year. Externally the company's Apprenticeship Programme has been recognised as a leading example in providing young people with an opportunity to establish a career whilst gaining skills and qualifications for the future. Most recently, Unilever was named in the prestigious Top 100 Employer list at the National Apprenticeship Awards organised by the government's National Apprenticeship Service.
