Respondents also view private cloud as superior for ease of use and meeting new customer demands

BLUE BELL, Pa., January 8, 2014 - Research sponsored by Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) shows that U.S. business leaders currently view a private cloud as the best model for delivering secure IT and business services to end users.

The study surveyed 103 business and technology decision-makers in the United States about the biggest challenges they face in using systems, tools and applications to deliver IT services to end users within and outside their organizations.

The largest single group of respondents - 60 percent - identified providing adequate security as the biggest challenge in service delivery.

The survey also questioned decision-makers as to the best IT models for overcoming their service delivery challenges. Fifty percent of the respondents cited a private cloud - one that is dedicated to a single organization or department - as the most effective model of cloud computing for secure service delivery. By contrast, 26 percent chose a hybrid cloud and 24 percent opted for a public cloud.

"Protecting business and customer information continues to be a top concern for business and technology decision makers," said Rod Sapp, vice president, products and technology, Unisys. "Studies by industry analysts indicate that enterprise executives are gaining greater confidence in public and hybrid clouds and are accelerating adoption of those models. However, our survey makes it clear that a sizable segment of business and IT decision makers currently view private clouds - with their combination of responsiveness and control - as an ideal way to support constituents quickly and flexibly while preserving the integrity of business-critical information."

More than 50 percent of the respondents also preferred a private cloud for key requirements such as ease of use and meeting new customer demands.

Also, 92 percent of respondents showed interest in implementing security through creation of secure communities of interest (COI), which use segmentation through software rather than physical infrastructure to limit visibility and access to information to authorized groups of users.

Unisys provides secure COI capabilities in Unisys Stealth™, which uses advanced data cloaking and encryption techniques to make devices, data and end users virtually invisible on the network. Unisys Stealth is integrated with Unisys Secure Private Cloud - a hybrid cloud management solution that transforms data center operations into a highly automated infrastructure.

Unisys offers its secure cloud solutions within a Hybrid Enterprise framework, which enables CIOs to manage all IT delivery models - both cloud and non-cloud - across the enterprise within a single, integrated management framework based on common technology, processes and policies.

Note to Editors

The 103 respondents were business and IT decision makers involved in data, network security and cloud-related purchase decisions for their organization in the past year.
