NEW YORK, NY / ACCESSWIRE / July 13, 2017 / U.S. markets rose Wednesday as investors reacted positively to Federal Reserve Chairwoman Janet Yellen's congressional testimony. The Dow Jones Industrial Average hit a new intra-day high of 21,580.79, before settling to close at 21,553.61, an increase of 0.68 percent. The S&P 500 Index gained 0.79 percent to close at 2,444.72.

"It seems like [Yellen's] dialing back a little bit of the hawkish sentiment from last time," said Karyn Cavanaugh, Senior Market Strategist at Voya Financial. "She's back to looking at inflation a little bit more. The market was a little worried but she's back to the same dovish Yellen."

Technology and Healthcare have been the top performing sectors in the S&P 500 Index in 2017, with gains of approximately 19 percent and 16 percent, respectively. Over the past 10 years, through July 11th, the S&P Technology sector has posted a total return of 175 percent, while the healthcare sector has provided a total return of 171 percent, according to data from FactSet.
