Verisk Analytics : Arizona implements self-update option for motorists

As part of the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) efficiency initiative, the state is implementing a self-update option for motorists' auto insurance. An insured is now able to update their insurance online to avoid registration suspension. Once an insured updates their insurance, ADOT's system will cross-check the input with transmissions from the carrier for 30 days. If no records match or override the input, the insured will receive another notice of intent to suspend vehicle registration.
To participate in the self-update option, an insured must know their carrier's ADOT code, which is issued to each carrier licensed to write policies in Arizona. The state has requested that carriers begin printing their ADOT code on insurance cards.
