Wang Jianhua, President of Zijin Mining Group, recently visited Papua New Guinea (PNG). The visit received a warm welcome and gained the attention of the local government, cooperative partners, project management, communities, land owners and press. Some influential newspapers in PNG, such as the National and the Post-Courier, have reported the visit in detail.

The National, in their article "Firm: No more Damage", reported on Zijin Mining's opinion sincerely and brightly. The article stated "We have the capability and capacity to take measures to improve our environmental protection and we are confident that we will incorporate those best practices of environmental protection to Porgera","Zijin's engagement in Porgera will not cause any local employees any worry that they will lose their jobs to the Chinese employees because it's our commitment to protecting the interest of the local communities' employees", and "if changes were to take place at Barrick through the arrangement, the pre-conditions would be benefit to the community, the life of the mine would be extended and the company would ensure there was efficiency in how the project was operated" etc.

The Post-Courier, in the article "China's Zijin group execs visit PNG", reported on the meeting of President Wang Jianhua and Ila Temu, Barrick Niugini Limited (BNL) executive director. Ila Temu said that their new partner recognizes the significant potential that exists at Porgera. Combining Barrick's past experience with Zijin's strong mining capabilities will help BNL going forward and unlock the full value of this mine for the benefit of all stakeholders. He said, "I know that Papua New Guineans will join me in warmly welcoming our visitors - the Zijin Group are a major rising international company, and it is a credit to our nation that Papua New Guinea can attract investors of such significance."
