Paul is the Chairman of the AIIM Board as well as Chairman of the AIIF2, AIIF3 and AIIF4 Investment Committees.
Paul has been CEO of Old Mutual Alternative Investments (“OMAI”) since 2004 and, has been involved with the business since its inception.
During this time, it has grown into the largest private alternative investment manager in Africa with over USD4 billion in assets under management.
He has a total of nearly 30 years’ experience in investments and capital markets.
Paul joined the Old Mutual Group in 1995 and currently chairs the Alternative Assets Investment Committee.
He serves on the boards of African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM), African Clean Energy Development, the Southern African Venture Capital and Private Equity Association, Tourvest, J&J, Phembani and Lesedi, and Letsatsi.
He also served on the boards of Old Mutual Investment Group, Assore, CIT, Life Healthcare, Metcash, Mezzanine Partners and Pepkor.
Paul served his articles with Deloitte in Johannesburg where he qualified as a chartered accountant.
He then spent 7 years as an investment banker with Investec before moving to Cape Town to join Old Mutual.
He was the portfolio manager of the Old Mutual Life Funds for 5 years and spent a further 3 years as Head of Investment Views for Old Mutual Asset Managers before being appointed Head of Alternative Investments in 2004.
