Prior to 2001, he worked at Becton Dickinson, where he served in a number of global positions, including worldwide Vice President and General Manager of BD Biosciences and Immunocytometry Systems.
Mr. Mareel was Vice President of Becton, Dickinson & Co. from 1991 to 2003.
He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Chemistry from Belgium's Industrial Institute of Technology.
Mr. Mareel has completed the executive management programs at the Harvard Business School in the United States and INSEAD in France.
