United Cos. Financial Corp. was engaged through its subsidiaries in consumer lending. The Company's operations primarily were focused on the origination, purchase, sale and servicing of first mortgage, non-conventional, home equity loans which are typically not loans for the purchase of homes. The Company also offered a secured credit card product which is presently targeted to the Company's home equity loan customer base. These credit card loans are typically secured by a second lien, behind the Company's first lien, on the borrower's residence.
