Spivey has been Senior Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer of Acura Pharmaceuticals, Inc. since April 2004.
From June 2002 to March 2004, he was President of Gibraltar Associates.
From March 1998 to May 2002, Dr. Spivey served as Vice President-Scientific Affairs of Alpharma/Purepac Pharmaceuticals.
He served in various senior level scientific and leadership positions at Zenith Goldline Pharmaceuticals, Cima Labs, Inc., Marion Merrell Dow, Burroughs Wellcome Company and the Warner Chilcott Division of Warner Lambert.
Dr. Spivey received a BA degree from Indiana University and a PhD degree in Pharmaceutics from the University of Iowa.
