Sam Levens

Sam serves as Deputy Chief Investment Officer at CAZ Investments.
He is responsible for portfolio management, sourcing and monitoring investments and themes, and overseeing the research process and team.
He also serves on the firm’s Operational and Investment Committees.
Sam has over 20 years of senior investment management experience within alternative investments.
The majority of his career has been spent managing capital in various capacities for the Bass Family of Texas.
Most recently he served as Chief Investment Officer of Fifth River Capital, a value-oriented long/short equity hedge fund.
Prior to that, Sam served as the Senior Portfolio Manager and an Investment Committee member of Crestline Investors, a $15 billion alternative asset manager based in Fort Worth, Texas.
At Crestline, Sam managed the investment and portfolio construction team and guided the sourcing, research, and monitoring of the firm’s hedge fund investments.
Prior to that, he spent several years in progressively more senior roles at FlyLine Partners and Carlson Capital.
Sam graduated Magna Cum Laude, with honors from Texas Christian University with dual degrees in Management and Finance.
He has been a Chartered Financial Analyst since 2002.
Outside work, Sam enjoys spending his time with his wife Kathleen and children, Mack, Lily and Wynn.
