Alaska Power & Telephone Company announced its decision to move its corporate headquarters to Ketchikan, Alaska. The company made the determination after considering numerous potential locations across the State of Alaska. In addition to being central to many of AP&T?s service areas, Ketchikan is a convenient two-hour flight from Seattle?s airport and business community.

Ketchikan also enjoys regular barge connectivity to the Puget Sound region and its robust supply chain, and ferry connectivity to many other Alaska communities. Over the decades, AP&T has grown through development of new utility systems in rural communities lacking centralized services; by acquiring and upgrading other utility systems; and by development of hydropower projects and telecommunication networks. AP&T?s most recent projects have involved development of fiber optic networks bringing advanced broadband to rural Alaska.

While AP&T weighed many factors in its selection of a new location for its headquarters, outreach from Ketchikan Borough Mayor Rodney Dial, City Mayor David Kiffer, and the Ketchikan Chamber of Commerce ultimately played a decisive role in the choice of Ketchikan as a new home.
