On May 9th, AMADA CO., LTD. (Isehara City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Director, Senior Executive Officer: Takaaki Yamanashi) launched sales of LIVLOTS, a new DX solution to support manufacturing sites. LIVLOTS accelerates the digitization of manufacturing workplaces by seamlessly connecting customer offices, programming rooms, processing machines and the manufacturing workplace, including to gain a more accurate understanding of the progress and work hours for each product in the factory overall.

At present, there are problems of labor shortages on a global scale due to the declining birthrate and aging population, and also issues regarding passing on the skills of veteran workers. In addition to this, the rapid development of digital technology has meant that action for DX in manufacturing workplaces has also become an urgent issue in the metal processing industry. LIVLOTS links with the new CAD/CAM "VPSS4ie" and the "AMNC4ie/3i" NC equipment that numerically controls processing machines, and connects people, things and events with data. The information that is necessary to manufacture processed products from sheet metal can be checked by anyone, whenever it is needed. This enables customer factories to perform the optimal and efficient production.

LIVLOTS responds to the challenges customers experience by reducing the labor required for the wide variety of production activities, so that even workers with little experience can efficiently increase productivity.

The AMADA Group will solve the customer issues and needs and contribute to manufacturing by developing new technologies and solutions that utilize digital technologies to improve overall factory efficiency and support automation.

■ Main features of LIVLOTS

1. Accurate understanding of production progress and results through linkage with VPSS 4ie and AMNC 4ie/3i

Previously, the information communication for the work from the production management system arrangement to program creation and machine operation were performed using paper, such as with arrangement documents and instructions. The AMADA Group has developed the new VPSS 4ie CAD/CAM and the AMNC 4ie NC equipment for machines, and has made it possible to communicate information on production arrangements instantly by linking the information through LIVLOTS. When an arrangement is made from the production management system, the arrangement information is communicated to the programming room in real time through LIVLOTS. In the programming room, the arrangement information and the load on the processing machine are checked, a program is created, and it is sent to the workplace as an instruction to the processing machine. In the workplace, it is possible to check the list of work tasks on the operating panel of the processing machine, and also the tasks are displayed in order of priority, so this prevents the overlooking of urgent items. This makes it possible to visualize the flow of work in each process, enabling smoother data linkage than in the past.

2. Know the status of manufacturing and the state of processing machines

The software makes it possible to analyze and visualize the manufacturing status and load status in the customer factory from the overall perspective, to understand the amount of work for each process and each machine, and to manage the progress in the entire factory based on the starting and completion information. This makes it possible to adjust the production plan according to the progress in the workplace. In addition, it is easy to enter performance values for the processes that do not use machines, so it is possible to gain an understanding of the unit cost of the product. This means that if a product has been prepared in the past, the unit cost will be displayed and it is possible to compare the actual result with the estimates.

In addition, CO2 emissions can be visualized for each product and each machine process, thereby supporting manufacturing to work toward carbon neutrality.

3. More efficient sorting operations after processing

In the sorting area, it is possible to check a list of the blanked sheets from a tablet device, and when a sheet is selected, it is displayed with different colors for each part. It is possible to register parts with an association with the pallet and cart, so it is easy to check where the parts are in the factory from the next process onward, and this eliminates the time previously required to search for parts.
